Jaz McBride is an Atlanta based multidisciplinary artist working with repurposed goods, textiles, and natural materials. She explores the stories objects carry—their histories and former uses—to draw a connection between sustainability, spiritual evolution, and quantum entanglement.

In her work, Jaz collects, stretches, folds, and binds various items, aiming to reincarnate them for new roles as sources of insight and inspiration. This process is a way for her to contextualize her experience as a product of Black femme resilience in America. Her pieces highlight the quiet ingenuity and resilience of domestic women's work, which has often been overlooked. By combining these forces, Jaz uncovers the tenderness behind creation and honors the hard labor and pain that goes into caring for it.

Using personal family objects, natural materials like soil and seeds, and found "treasures" such as shells and coins, Jaz creates sensory environments. Her intention is to invite viewers to engage in shared histories and storytelling, all while considering the impact of their own lives on the world around them.

I love the idea of "Spiritual UPcycling" — transforming discarded objects into something beautiful, new, and purpose-filled. My work is an exploration of abstraction and its intersection with functionality and identity. I often incorporate written words and scriptures into my pieces, turning the process into an intentional, meditative practice.
