Farm-to-School

Jaz spent nearly 2 years as a full-time Farm-to-School Educator at Wylde Center (a Decatur based F2S program), developing STEAM-centered curriculum and leading numerous in-school lessons, field trips, and after-school programs for hundreds of students in the Decatur + Atlanta Area.

In School

With Wylde Center, Jaz delivered in-school programs to over 20 schools annually in the City Schools of Decatur and Atlanta Public Schools districts. These programs brought experiential learning to classrooms and school gardens, aligning with common core standards and inspiring deeper engagement with environmental science. Jaz often worked with groups of up to 25 students per 30-minute lesson, bringing in additional learning materials to support instruction and ensuring students left with a clear understanding of the day’s lesson.

Field Trips

Through Wylde Center’s field trip programs, led by educators like Jaz, students from over 20 schools annually explore local natural systems and learn about human impact on the environment. These experiential learning opportunities, aligned with core curriculum standards, inspire curiosity and reinforce learning.

After School

Wylde Center educators lead free after-school Garden Clubs that teach young people the basics of gardening and the food web. Jaz and other educators helped students plant and tend to beds. Students jump at the chance to harvest vegetables that they can take home to share with family.

Summer Camp

Through Wylde Center's summer and school break camps, Jaz guided young campers as they explored crafts, nature, learned about gardening, and built lasting friendships. Through hands-on activities and outdoor adventures, children developed a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
